Biocatalysis – the application of enzymes or microbes in chemistry – has developed into one of the key technologies of the 21st century. Enzymes in isolated form, as a cell extract or whole cell biocatalysts can be used to replace or supplement purely chemical process routes with the goal to make chemical synthesis more efficient, environmentally friendly, sustainable and potentially more cost-effective.Downloads
