Thierry Chappuis is a new professor of chemical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland in Fribourg (EIA-FR). His main fields of interest are thermal safety of chemical processes and advanced optimization techniques (chemometrics, neural networks or genetic algorithms) applied to process intensification. He joined the industrial chemistry team at EIA-FR in February 2008, where the main research goal is to develop innovative optimization strategies targeting the chemical industry and sustainable process development. This article briefly presents the roles he plans to play in the EIA-FR R&D dynamics.Downloads
