Molecular engineering and covalent immobilization of biomolecules on material surfaces whilst retaining specificity and biological functions is a major challenge in bioarray manufacturing and analysis. Photochemical functionalization of materials enables specific bioengineering and facile manufacturing of biotech products for microanalysis with concomitant surface passivation. Surfaces engineered with polysaccharides render materials hydrophilic, biocompatible and generally applicable for probe molecule immobilization. Products and procedures described support microanalytical investigations in all '-omics' domains.Downloads
