Abstract

Parallel automated equipment in compound handling has emerged from solely liquid transfer systems to integrated tools for sample preparation, chemical synthesis, work-up, purification, analysis, and finally screening. Nowadays, liquids as well as solids can be handled on the very same robotic equipment. Selected examples from the field of organic synthesis, catalysis, and material science show the wide range of applications for high-throughput experimentation. The possibilities for process optimization and process development within the parallel approach are emphasized.
