Currently the method of choice in the field of forensic identity is the use of commercially available kits allowing the simultaneous analysis of several STRs in a single multiplex reaction. Several other technologies, like the sequencing of mitochondrial DNA and typing of markers on the Y chromosome are providing forensic DNA laboratories with a new arsenal of weapons that may be used in the field of human identification. Switzerland has implemented a forensic DNA database with already remarkable results.Downloads
