This essay describes an approach facing some of the challenges of glycoscience, concentrating on the relation between structure and reactivity. This has resulted in new methods, precursors of carbohydrate-derived reactive intermediates, analysis of their reactivity, and application mostly in synthesis. It has also led to the design, synthesis, and use of enzyme inhibitors, and to novel carbohydrate mimics and nucleotide analogues.Downloads
