At the beginning of 2000 Uwe Pieles took up the position as lecturer for chemistry at the University of Applied Sciences in Muttenz (FHBB). Besides teaching and the supervision of students, his main responsibility is the implementation of a nanotechnology project that focuses on the investigation and chemical modification of surfaces. Dr. Pieles completed his university education at the Universities of Bielefeld and Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the EMBL in Heidelberg. He then worked in industry at Ciba Geigy in Basel and BYK Gulden in Konstanz where he was responsible for developing various nucleic acid analysis techniques.Downloads
