Abstract

Unsulfonated lignin is formed as a by-product of a new industrial process in cellulose production. EIF is looking for applications for this potentially useful and valuable material. Our research activities concentrate on the following applications: soil additives, fertilizers, herbicide carriers. Besides this, we are modifying the structure of lignin in order to introduce complexing groups for metal cations. Furthermore, we are working on the hydrothermal upgrading of lignin.
