Abstract

Sulfonic hydrazides were found to react thermally with Ru₃(CO)₁₂ without cleavage of the N–N bond resulting in the formation of trinuclear hydrazido clusters. The X-ray structure analysis of the derivative (μ2-H)Ru3(CO)9[μ₃-η²-H₂NNS(O)₂Mes] shows a triangular Ru₃ framework capped by an intact N–N unit.
