Abstract

A new synthetic H+-selective ion-carrier suitable as a component for liquid membrane electrodes is described. Electrodes based on PVC membranes make possible the measurement of physiological H+ ion activities in the presence of typical extra- or intracellular backgrounds of the interfering ions Na+, K+, Mg2+ and Ca2+. The same H+-carrier can be used in liquid membrane microelectrodes.
