Abstract

The structure of the main components of the sesquiterpene fraction of petasites hybridus (L.) G.M. et Sch. has been determined by combination of spectroscopic methods. Most compounds are esters of three isomeric sesquiterpene alcohols, characterised by an eremophilan sceleton, namely of petasol (3), neopetasol (4) as well as of isopetasol (5).
