Photochemische Primärprozesse in Lösung

An attempt is made to describe the processes following photoexcitation of molecules in solution in a purely quantum-mechanical language without introducing concepts from classical mechanics. It follows that photochemical reactions from higher vibronic states are feasible. Experimental results which support this view are presented. Excess excitation energy is shown to be so rapidly dispersed in the solvent that 10-9 s after excitation no trace of local heating is left.
