Abstract

A model has been developped to predict the hydrodynamic behaviour of a liquid-liquid-spray column – drop size and hold-up – which is also valid for high hold-up near the flooding point of the column. The coefficients in the semi-empirical relations have been evaluated by experiments. 
The function describing the dropdiameter results from a combination of the relations for the formation of a single drop and for the drop formation in jet-break-up. The hold-up model is based on a force balance around the rising drop.
