Sterine in Chlamydomonas reinhardi (Grünalgen)
DOI:

Sterols of the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardi (wildtype and 2 streptomycin-resistant mutants) have been analyzed by DC, GC and MS. Major sterols were found to be ergosterol and 7-dehydroporiferasterol. Minor components were composed of Δ7,22-ergostadienol, Δ7-ergostenol, chondrillasterol, Δ7-chondrillastenol and traces of cholesterol. Sterols, about 10 % of which are found in the esterified form, account for about 1% of the total lipids of the cells.
