Facile Synthesis of 2-Dimethylamino-Δ-1-Azirine Derivatives by Thermal or Photo-Isomerization of Isoxazoles [1]

Abstract

3,5-Bisdimethylamino-isoxazoles II are obtained easily from 1,3-dichloro-trimethinecyanine I and a water solution of hydroxylamine. Besides precedented photo-isomerization of 4-substituted isoxazoles IIb,c to azirines IIIb,c near quantitative thermal isomerization of 4-unsubstituted-isoxazole IIa to amino-azirine IIIa is reported.
