The preparation and hydrolysis of 5-bromo-5,6-dihydro-orotic acid

Abstract

The action of bromine on maleuric acid I gave 5-bromo-5,6-dihydro-orotic acid II. The structure of II was established by its various spectra, its elemental analysis and its chemical reactions. The reaction of II with sodium hydroxide was investigated.
