Abstract

Many chemical processes involve two-phase flow, often with simultaneous heat and mass transfer, such as distillation. The relevant research activities carried out over the years at the “Institut für Verfahrens- und Kältetechnik” are summarized. References are given which discuss in greater detail the phenomenon of multiphase flow as flow regimes, pressure drop, heat transfer, slip and critical flow in pipes.
