Abstract

Segmented polyether esters prepared by ester interchange from dimethyl terephthalate, polyalkylene ether glycols and 1.4-butane-diol represent a novel class of thermoplastic high performance elastomers. The synthesis of high molecular weight copolyesters by melt condensation and solid phase polymerization as well as the effect of the polyether glycol structure on the polymerization and the physical properties of the resulting polymers are investigated.
