Body comfort and ease of care are two of the properties associated with modern textiles. Body comfort is a complex magnitude. Moisture absorption takes place between the fibres and in the fibre itself. What is much more important, however, is the release of moisture, which is effected by the filaments of the textiles. That is why their construction and preservation is of great importance in the manufacture and care of textiles. The correlations between the various factors involved are demonstrated by selected test series with different fibres and yarn constructions. From these it becomes clear that certain experiences with specific fibres are not necessarily applicable to other types as well and that for moisture release the construction of the textiles is more important than the moisture absorption capacity of the respective fibre.
