Abstract

The piperidin free radicals, detected by means of E.S.R. spectroscopy or Electron-Nuclear Double Resonance seem to be quite adequate as a free radical probe for the investigation of modern organic systems such as macromolecules, plastic crystals and liquid crystals :

a) The solid solution of piperidin free radical in the elastomers has shown the large translational mobility of small molecules.
b) Some new details concerning the plastic phase in cyclohexane can be found.
c) The free radical probe can be used to determine the degree of order in liquid crystals.
