Abstract

A system has been developed for computer-controlled potentiometric acid-base titrations consisting of a HP 2114 B computer, a DM 2022 S digital voltmeter and further peripheral devices. Additions of acid and base were made with the aid of a coulometer. The actual concentrations of hydrogen ions were meas-tired using a hydrogen electrode. The equipment is particularly suited for investigations of equilibria involving proton transfer reactions. Programs for titration control and real time evaluation of data are outlined and typical applications are briefly discussed.
