Abstract

The absolute configuration of optically active 2,5,7-trisubstituted triptycenes deduced from the rigorous analysis of their CD spectra based on molecular exciton theory was found to be consistent with that determined by “the revised X-ray method”. In order to get further information, the absolute configuration of 2,7-discustituted triptycene was correlated with that of 2,5,7-trisubstituted triptycenes.
