The 13C-signals due to the carbon atoms of the anomeric furanoses and pyranoses in the pulse Fourier transform 13C-nmr spectra of D-ribose and 2-deoxy-D-ribose are assigned. The CH- and CH2-carbons are characterized as doublets and triplets in the proton off-resonance decoupled PFT-13C-NMR spectra. Further assignment aids are the proton broad band decoupled PFT-13C-NMR spectra of nucleosides such as 2- deoxyribofuranosyl-adenine and ribofuranosyl- and ribopyranosyl-adenine as well as β-methyl-D-ribofuranoside and β-methyl-D-ribopyranoside as reference compounds.
